Meet the WHT Student Staff
All First-Year W. H. Thompson Scholars will have a mentor, a second-year or upper-class W. H. Thompson Scholar who knows first-hand what it’s like to be new to UNL and who can help them find the campus resources and opportunities they need to be successful on campus. Mentors are available to answer questions and help students participate in a number of group and community events. Their primary responsibility is to assist new students with their academic, social, and personal transition to UNL. Each mentor-mentee group has 6-8 scholars, including one mentor. The groups meet for activities, and the mentor meets with each group member individually once a month. W. H. Thompson mentors are tasked with representing and promoting the W. H. Thompson mission and values both on and off-campus. Mentor groups work together to help each other make a smooth transition from high school to college and to help students become integrated into the W.H. Thompson Scholars and the UNL community.
